Father of missing Hawaii woman found dead in Los Angeles, LAPD says

KABC, Los Angeles — According to authorities, the father of a missing Hawaiian woman who was last seen in Los Angeles was discovered dead on Sunday close to LAX.

In order to assist in the search for his daughter, Hannah Kobayashi, Ryan Kobayashi had lately travelled to Los Angeles. The 30-year-old woman was travelling from Hawaii to New York City on November 8 when she reportedly went missing after stopping at Los Angeles International Airport.

Ryan Kobayashi, 58, was discovered dead in a parking lot on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. The cause of death is not specified in the coroner’s information.

The discovery of Ryan Kobayashi’s body was confirmed to ABC News by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, at a business located close to LAX at 6151 W. Century Blvd. Additionally, the LAPD failed to identify a suspected cause of death.

The family is being contacted by Eyewitness News. The Kobayashi family believes he committed suicide, according to a statement released Sunday by a charitable organisation thought to be assisting them in their hunt. Part of the statement said:

“Today, the Kobayashi family suffered a terrible tragedy. After searching all over Los Angeles for 13 days, Ryan Kobayashi, Hannah’s father, tragically committed suicide. The pain of the family has been greatly exacerbated by this loss.

All communities should come together to support, care for, and pray for the family during this trying time. Please show consideration for your posts and remarks. They are dealing with severe trauma, and now they have to deal with the added stress of mourning the death of their family’s cornerstone and figuring out what to do next.”

They implored the public to keep their attention on the hunt for Hannah despite the devastating news about her father, and they requested seclusion so that the family members may grieve.

Hannah never made it to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport as scheduled, but it’s unclear what transpired after she touched down at LAX on November 8.

She was seen in a video on November 10 at the Grove shopping mall in Los Angeles, and for a few days after that, friends and family reported receiving strange texts from her. She was last communicated by text on November 11. On November 11, she was also captured on camera with an unidentified individual near a downtown Metro train stop, according to her family.

In talks with the media, Ryan Kobayashi spoke on behalf of the family as they looked to the public for assistance.

“We’re just hoping that she is safe and healthy and alive,” Ryan stated earlier this month. “And if anybody knows anything we’d just really appreciate any kind of help.”

Last week, Kobayashi’s aunt Larie Pidgeon also sent a message to her niece and the general public.

“We adore you, Hannah. All of us are present. Your father, mother, and sister are all present. “Everyone is searching for you,” she continued.

“If someone I want you to know that Hannah is the world’s most beautiful and sweetest soul. And don’t harm her, please.”

“Just return us to her, please. No enquiries were made. Don’t harm her, please. Please.
